Training Staff
Judit Arroyo CPDT-KA

When Judit got her first puppy, an Australian Shepherd mix she named Puffy, she quickly realized she was in over her head. Judit was young and inexperienced in dog training, and her fluffy little pup turned out to be as challenging as he was adorable. Puffy, by nature, was not very friendly towards people; he often reacted in an aggressive way, even to family members. Judit was surprised, but she committed herself to learning how to work with Puffy so he could have the good, long life she knew he deserved.
In the process, Judit became fascinated with dog training, and ultimately decided to become a trainer herself. Today, Judit brings a unique blend of professional experience and personal insight to every training session and class, and her students – both canine and human – reap the rewards.
Judit launched her professional dog-training career in 2002, when she was hired by one of Chicago’s premier dog-training schools. During her six years with the school, Judit gained a solid foundation in canine communication, body language, learning theory, and behavior modification, and specialized in working with aggressive dogs. She developed effective problem-solving and training skills using only positive reinforcement rather than force or dominance of any kind. With extensive experience designing and teaching curricula for group classes and workshops, Judit excels at customizing and developing behavior solutions and training techniques that suit individuals’ needs.
Judit’s commitment to dog training and welfare extends beyond the classroom. She has volunteered for Chicago Canine Rescue, New Leash on Life, and Animal Care and Control. She has also organized fundraisers for various rescue organizations, and is a popular guest at career days in local elementary and middle schools. In addition, Judit competes in rally obedience (Rally-O), and was the on-set dog trainer for the forthcoming movie, “Beast.”
Judit’s passion for dog training began with Puffy, and he remains her greatest inspiration and motivator. Today, Judit and Puffy enjoy outings to the forest preserve, where they devise new training games to keep them both sharp. Puffy enjoys proving that he will never be too old to learn new tricks!
