Lead Groomer
Purpose: Provide exceptional grooming services to DGF clientele.
Primary Responsibilities:
Discuss pets’ grooming needs with clients
Brush, scissor and clip dogs
Trim toenails; clean ears
Express anal glands
Give brief, relaxing massages as part of spa treatment
Demat and detangle neglected coats
Keep records on clients and their pets
Clean up and maintain neat, sanitary work space
Identify potential health issues and alert client.
Maintain equipment in good working order including sharp blades and sheers.Maintain clean and sanitary tools and equipment.
Engage as a team member to do whatever else needs to be done to provide the highest level of customer service and to create a positive work environment.
Assist all grooming department staff to ensure efficient completion of daily work.
Monitor quality of work in the grooming area.
Assist in identifying possible skin and coat issues and direct staff as to appropriate product use.
Communicate any skin and coat issues to client.
Additional Responsibilities:
Bathe dogs as needed.
Provide guidance to and be an example to the other grooming and bathing staff
Requirements: Must love dogs, extensive experience handling dogs; 3+ years experience grooming or satisfactory completion of an approved grooming training program or school; good health, including a strong back; no allergies to animal dander; patience in dealing with sometimes uncooperative animals; excellent communication/people, organizational, and leadership skills, have an artistic flair; continued education by attending grooming seminars and other training offered as related to the position.
